Kindle Book Reader

The Kindle is a ten-ounce device, which can hold up to two hundred E-books (electronic books), as well as download your choice of 160,000 books available, nineteen different newspapers and keep track of three hundred forty-six blogs. When first hearing of this new electronic device, the first question on the minds of consumers is, "What is a Kindle?" If you search the name through search engines such as Google, Dogpile, or any of the major search engines, you can easily learn what one is. The next question on the mind of consumers is, "How did it get its name?'' If you happen to have grown up in the country, you would have learned that kindle had to do with building a fire. After surfing the web the Kindle has been regarded as starting a fire of unstoppable E-books that won't be able to be put out. After reading this, it became abundantly clear that was how it got its name.

This technological innovation is thought by some to be to books what MP3 was to music. There isn't any sales information, such as numbers sold, available on this device; therefore, its popularity is not an empirically proven fact. However, researching the Kindle has shown that right around forty thousand units per month have been sold already this year alone at a price of $399.00. Just recently the price was reduced to $359.00, which includes wireless charges.

Some speculate that by December of 2008 the total number of Kindle that is sold could reach as high as $700,000 to $800,000. $2.5 billion dollars is a very real possibility by the year 2012. That's a great number, but it is still just a speculation. This is not an accurate indicator. As long as the human race has been in existence it has resisted change and not been comfortable with the introduction of new things. Still as the old adage states, 'Change is inevitable'. Therefore, it's a safe bet that the Kindle will be with us for quite some time yet. Don't waste any time and get one as soon as possible. There is a doubt that there will come a point where consumers will have to fight off mobs at the stores for them (such as the Cabbage Patch Kids incidents in
the 1980's or the Tickle Me Elmo incidents of the 1990's), but the way the demand for technology is rising anything is possible.

In closing, I want to state that personally I think the Kindle is an excellent achievement in electronic engineering. With it you can have practically a whole library at your disposal. You can read newspapers from around the world. The possibilities are almost endless.

The Kindle is a wonderful book reader. Amazon.com launched this gadget in November of 2007 in the U.S. The Kindle can hold up to 200 titles. You can purchase content through the Kindle Store.

Once you purchase a Kindle and the Ebooks for download be sure to read the Terms of Use. They prohibit a transfer of any Ebooks to another person. They also prohibit the use of transfer to other devices. The Kindle uses Whispernet, a form of delivering content wirelessly. The United States is the only place Whispernet is available.

When Amazon first came out with the Kindle the cost of hardcover books as well as any best seller book would be released for $9.99, however, that is not a guarantee the price will always be this inexpensive. There are numerous books available for use on the Kindle. The Kindle uses one of the formats called a Mobipocket. Mobipocket is a leader in formats regarding Ebooks.

Other formats used on a Kindle is DRM, which is restricted. Another format is the AZW, in an experimental stage. If you use the AZW you may have the option of downloading books straight into the Kindle. The Kindle does not have full support for the PDF format.

You have the ability with the Kindle to bookmark and lookup items you wish to return to read. You can mark pages, add notes, and highlight any text you wish to save for later. When you have the book open, you will have a menu, which will give you options to find synonyms as well as definitions from, the dictionary built in to the Kindle. It also has an option to have a memory of the final page of each book.

The Kindle costs roughly $399. It weighs roughly 10.3 ounces. It's about the size of a paperback. The Kindle has a six-inch screen and uses a specific technology for the display from Electronic ink, or E-Ink, which takes material and processes it into film, thus coming very close to the precision of a printed book. The consumer can load around 200 books onto the Kindle. Once charged, you can get close to 30 hours reading time on that specific charge. If your Kindle runs down, fortunately, it will recharge in about 2 hours.

The Kindle works independently from your PC. You have the ability to shop, search for books, read any recommendations and reviews of books as well as post one yourself. The books are inexpensive right now at just about $9.99 a piece.

You can purchase books that are on the New York Times Bestsellers and newly released books for around $10 each. If you want to purchase a classic book, those would cost you roughly $1.99 each. Many books' first chapters are offered as a sample that is free to users.
